At a recent City Council meeting, the Alton Committee of the Whole discussed major resolutions affecting the region, including one that would disallow any new hires within the city without committee approval until a new budget is set forth.
Additional highlights from the meeting included a discussion on an ordinance that would increase the number of Class C-2 liquor licenses authorized by city code from two to three and a resolution authorizing the city treasurer to make a payment from the Simpson Memorial Tennis Fund to the City of Alton in the amount of $700.
The Committee of the Whole audits all bills and reviews all bids for the city. Committee members include Charles Brake, Alice Martin, Gary Fleming, David Boulds, James Ryan, Carolyn McAffee and Michael Velloff.
