The Alton Committee of the Whole plans to discuss the sale of 708 Mechanics at an upcoming meeting.
The Alton Committee of the Whole will meet on Monday, April 11, to discuss the sale of 708 Mechanics due to its being a surplus property owned by the city -- and no longer necessary for any public purpose.
The city will announce the sale in a qualified newspaper for three consecutive weeks.
The committee also plans to assess the idea of creating and preparing an ordinance that would add a $1 fee to hotels, motels and bed and breakfast facilities. This money would be used to help purchase vehicle replacements for the fire and police departments.
Also of note is a resolution concerning the Lewis and Clark Community College YouthBuild Program. The program has negotiated with the city’s director of development and housing to make home improvements to two single-family residences, one at 3230 and one at 3253 Hawthorne Blvd.
