Madison County Institutions Committee meets to discuss education

Members of the Madison County Institutions Committee met Wednesday, June 8.

Here are the meeting minutes as provided by the Madison County Institutions Committee:

COUNTY INSTITUTIONS COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES

Wednesday, June 8th, 2016

3:00 P.M.

PRESENT: N. Petrillo, R. Alons, L. Dalton, M. Madison, L. Ciampoli.

ABSENT: K. Novacich, R. Pollard

OTHERS: S. Dietrich, J. Roth, M. Westerhold, Dr. Daiber, C. Cohan, L. Ogden.

Mr. Alons moved, with a second by Ms. Dalton to approve the minutes from April’s meeting.

Motion approved unanimously.

EDUCATION:

Dr. Daiber reported for the Education Office and provided monthly report. Dr. Daiber said School

has adjourned for the summer. Dr. Daiber told committee of couple change of superintendents at Alton,

Bethalto Schools. Dr. Daiber said Sen Bill 100 will be in effect as of September 2016. Dr. Daiber told

committee Give 30 program is off to a great start with 95% success rate. Dr. Daiber said Madison County

Teacher Institution is scheduled for October 7, 2016.

VETERANS’ ASSISTANCE:

None in attendance, monthly report was provided for Veterans’ Office.

MENTAL HEALTH:

Ms. Roth reported for Mental Health Office. Ms. Roth said she is hearing talk of restructuring at

Heartland. Ms. Roth said Mental Health will be sending out applications on July 1. Mr. Roth

said September is suicide prevention month. Ms. Roth said River of Life Church in Alton have

picked up “Reentry Services” Ms. Roth shared upcoming events.

Ms. Roth said if you ever have questions please stop by the office anytime.

CHILD ADVOCACY:

Ms. Cohan reported for Child Advocacy Office and provided monthly report. Ms. Cohan said

CAC conducted 36 interviews in the month of February, 40 in March, 60 in April and

76interviews in the month of May. Ms. Cohan said CAC has seen10% increase in interviews

already this year. Ms. Cohan said CAC provided Forensic interviews to 650 children in 2015

Ms. Cohan shared with Committee couple upcoming events.

HISTORICAL MUSEUM:

Ms. Dietrich reported for Historical Museum. Ms. Dietrich handed out the budget expenditure

analysis report for the Museum. Ms. Dietrich said Ms. Westerhold has prepared “Phase 1 work

on the Museum Building (Weir House) report. Ms. Westerhold explains details of repairs to be

done.

Mr. Madison moved, seconded by Mr. Alons, to adjourn the meeting. Motion approved

unanimously.
