Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (SIUE) junior outside hitter Ashley Witt has been named to the 2016 All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) preseason volleyball team, according to SIUECougars.com.
Witt was placed on the team by a vote of the OVC's head coaches and sports information directors. The Cougars were predicted to finish ninth in a poll by the same voters.
Last season, Witt was second on the Cougars with 293 kills and fifth with 194 digs. She had six games in which she recorded double digits in kills and digs. Witt had a career-high 26 kills in the match against Tennessee-Martin.
As a freshman, Witt set a school record for her class with 309 kills.
Belmont, which tied Murray State with a league-high three players on the preseason team, finished first in the poll with 235 points, including 16 first-place votes. Murray State was second with 227 points.
