Southern Illinois University Edwardsville middle blocker Taylor Joens was named to the All-Holiday Inn Invitational honors after the volleyball event, which ended Aug. 27, in Dayton, Ohio.
According to SIUE's athletics website, Joens had 32 kills in the Cougars' three matches, with 10 blocks and team highs in service aces (4) and hitting percentage (.213).
SIUE opened the tourney -- and its regular season -- on Aug. 26 by beating host Wright State 3-1. Game scores were 19-25, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-23.
On Aug. 27, the Cougars lost to Dayton by game scores of 25-20, 14-25, 23-25 and 19-25. Then, SIUE dropped a 3-2 decision to Toledo. Game scores were 30-28, 16-25, 25-27, 25-23 and 11-15.
The Cougars' next home action is against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 21.
