State Representative Amy Elik and the Illinois Treasurer’s Office are organizing an event to help residents find out if they are owed money by the state. The event will take place on Monday, October 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Bethalto Library, located at 321 S Prairie St in Bethalto.
The program, called ICASH, assists Illinois residents in locating and reclaiming unclaimed property. This property can include forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance payments, stocks, or contents of safe deposit boxes. Over the past decade, more than $2 billion have been returned to Illinoisans through this initiative.
"Does the State of Illinois owe you money? Come find out!" said organizers.
Amy Elik was elected as a Republican to the Illinois State House in 2021 and represents the state's 111th House District, taking over from former representative Monica Bristow.
