Madison County planning committee reviews permit requests

The Madison County Planning and Development Committee met Jan. 5 to review permit requests.

Here is the meeting's agenda, as provided by the committee:

The Madison County Planning Committee is charged with supervising the county’s planning and development department. It also liaisons with the Zoning Board of Appeals, County Regional Planning Commission and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency; makes recommendations related to the county’s Zoning Ordinance, Environmental Regulations, Subdivision Regulations, Mobile Home Regulations and Building/Housing Codes; reviews subdivision plats; oversees the county's solid waste inspection and recycling programs; and oversees the county’s participation in regional, state and federal stormwater control programs.

F. Unfinished Business:

1) Resolution, Zoning Board of Appeals Findings of Fact, and Recommendation for Z16-0063, petition of KSEM Inc., requesting a special use permit in order to operate an agricultural implement and machinery service & repair and welding establishment. Also, a variance in order to erect a fence that will be 8 feet tall instead of the allowable 6 feet. (Fort Russell Township) – Postponed until February 2, 2017 per applicant request.

2) Resolution Z16-0079, petition of Arbon Hairston and Denise Lutes, requesting a variance in order to construct a fence in the front yard setback that will vary in height between five (5) and eight (8) feet instead of the allowable four (4) feet. (Edwardsville Township) – Postponed until January

5, 2017 for additional information.

G. New Business:

1) Resolutions, Zoning Board of Appeals Findings of Fact, and Recommendations for December 29, 2016:

a) Resolution Z16-0076, petition of Betty Thomas, requesting a special use permit in order to continue placement of a mobile home on site for the sole occupancy of Betty Thomas for a period not to exceed five years. (Moro Township)

b) Resolution Z16-0081, petition of Jean Blumberg, applicant for owner of record, Doris Meyer Revocable Living Trust, requesting a variance in order to create a tract of land that will have 50 feet of road frontage instead of the required 150 feet. (Moro Township)

2) Resolution Authorizing the Demolition of Unsafe Structure – 1323 5th St., Cottage Hills
