Pledging fidelity to financial responsibility, Village of Hartford resident and retired village staffer Jim Hickerson says Hartford needs someone like him as its mayor.
The retired civic worker wants to correct the course of accounting that he views as the village’s highest priority.
He vowed to “personally monitor” local expenditures, citing previous fiscal excess as a problem for the jurisdiction.
Hickerson also emphasized transparency, the need to jump start new business energy — which he said would in turn help offset expenditure-based losses already incurred — and the active maintenance of public works services without reductions, including fire and police personnel.
“I will actively promote Hartford as a desirable place to live and to encourage people to move into our village,” he said.
Hickerson envisions a high level of accessibility to the mayor’s office to accommodate residents’ “concerns, comments and questions.”
“Our village will have some tough times in the future,” he said. “I promise I will work with you and for you to improve the current financial situation.”
