Village of Swansea Park Board met May 13.

President Mike opened meeting with Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00am, followed by discussion of Agenda Items. Approval of 8 April 207 Minutes: Motion to approve minutes by Dave M. Second by Paula. Approved.
Final Plans for Memorial Day: Marilyn reported that Col Mike Reed, Ret, will be our speaker. Due to conflict in scheduling, the 127 Refueling Wing will not be able to attend. We are still in need of Color Guard.
More veterans have been added to our honorees.
Marilyn is providing chips; Joe and Diane getting food and grilling hot dogs.
7:30 am set-up.
Request to Hold Free Concert Every Wednesday evening (June - August): At Our April meeting, we recommended one concert on Jun 24. Use concert pavilion or TWM Bldg. Looking toward, possibly, a summer concert series next year. Since the last concert this band held at the park was not a good experience for the Village, Park Board members hold to the recommendation of one concert.
The following stipulations will apply: okay use of the stage; event to last from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; no active solicitation of donations; extra trash receptacles will be provided by Village.
Marilyn will call the band's agent, Sandra King-Carter.
New Business: None.
Unfinished Business: Building on the discussion from April meeting regarding future of the Patriots, there was great enthusiasm for a Halloween Monster/Zombie event. Ideas suggested:
For the kids, a costume parade around the park, candy trunk or treat (could have a prize for best decorated trunk), pumpkin decorating contest, scare crow Contest.
For the adults, food trucks, monster/Zombie hunt thru the woods. Unfortunately, hayride has liabilities.
Dave M, Marilyn, Diane work on sponsors-donations by July meeting. Diane will do master list of businesses to coordinate who will solicit which business. Dan will do flyers. Marilyn will talk to Tribout.
Bike Trail: Brian stated that the trail from Old Collinsville Rd up Metro Link hill should be milled and resurfaced. This will make the trail safer and provide an opportunity for township, county, and other agencies to prepare for future use. Park Board to recommend pedestrian use.
