The calls in Alton included 160 fires - 101 structure fires, 28 vehicle fires and 29 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $863,565 in fire loss - or about $5,397 per fire.
The department also received 236 false calls, including two malicious calls and 234 other false calls.
The calls resulted in three civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, two fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.
The Alton Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 47 active employees and 88 retired or inactive employees, was $4,146,678 in debt as of March 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $25,917 for every fire in 2016.
