Alton Historic Commission met Sept. 5.

Members Present: Doug Bader, Mary Anderson, Monica Mason, Diane Plummer and Charlene Walker
Members Absent: Chase Green and Jonas Janek
Others Present: George Carroll, Brian Sitze, Brant Walker, Joseph Russell, Deanna Barnes, Deputy Director of Building and Zoning, Sam Shaw, Building Inspector and Becky Brunaugh, Secretary
The meeting of the Alton Historic Commission was called to order by Doug Bader at 8:07 a.m. on September 5, 2017.
Monica Mason moved to approve the minutes for August 1, 2017 as presented. Mary Anderson seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Applications:
Brian Sitze with Eagle Home Improvement presented the application for 1217 State St. Eagle Home Improvement will be installing triple three-inch siding on entire residence, with shake shingles being used on the gables and bay windows. The sunroom on the back of the residence will have the exterior walls replaced and a new roof installed.
Mary Anderson moved to accept the application. Diane Plummer seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Brant Walker presented the application for 622 E. 7th St. He is installing double four-inch siding and double-hung thermal windows, no grills.
Mary Anderson moved to accept the application. Monica Mason seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Joseph Russell presented the application for 541 E. 9th St. He is proposing to demolish the single-story residence.
Diane Plummer moved to approve the application. Monica Mason seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Other Business:
The Alton Area Landmarks House Tour is October 8th. The commission discussed placing an ad in the brochure as they have done in previous years.
There being no further discussion or comments from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 8:37 a.m.
