Once a month, except in January, Collinsville residents have an opportunity to dispose of dilapidated or unwanted machinery, appliances, electronics and other items.

From 9 a.m.-noon on the second Saturday of every month, except January, unwanted items can be dropped off at the public parking lot at 227 W. Main St., across from Spiritos Italian Grocery, a posting on the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce website said. Services at the drop-off site are provided by Power Recycling.

No glass, paper, plastic, cardboard or tires will be accepted at this site, the posting said.

The fees for dropping off older-model tube television sets and CRT computer monitors are $20 each for units with screen sizes up to 32 inches, and $40 each for those 32 inches or more. Modern flat screen television sets and monitors may be dropped off at no charge. Motor vehicles, including motorcycles, will be accepted, but must have a title. Bicycles, scooters, children’s motorized toys and off-road recreational vehicles are also accepted.

Residential and industrial machinery may be dropped off, as well as most types of lawn and garden tools and equipment, office implements, household appliances, electronics and batteries.

For full lists of accepted items, see the chamber’s website, www.discovercollinsville.com.
