City of Alton Civil Service Commission met Oct. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

A regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 8:15am on October 18, 2017, at Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.

Members Present: Terry Bristow, Jonas Janek

Members Absent: Vicki Searles-Williams

Staff Present: Civil Service Attorney Patrick King

Guests Present: None

A motion was made by Mr. Bristow and seconded by Mr. Janek to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on October 4, 2017. Motion passed.

Job requisition for Sewer V was signed.

Brandon Wecker’s resignation from the Police Department was signed.

Mr. Janek made motion to vote to allow Sgt O’Neill to test for the position of Lieutenant as he requested at the meeting held on October 4, 2017, seconded by Mr. Bristow. All opposed. Sgt O’Neill will not be permitted to test this year.

Discussion of the Lateral Entry Interview process took place. The Police Department shall provide one officer to sit in on the interviews as a content expert and give discussion at the end of each interview to the Commission. These interviews will take place in a special meeting soon to be scheduled.

Two interviews were held for the Park Supervisor position.

With no further business, Mr. Janek made a motion, seconded by Mr. Bristow to adjourn at 9:00am.

Motion passed.
