Alton Historical Commission met December 19. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

Members Present: Doug Bader, Mary Anderson, Diane Plummer, Chase Green


Members Not Present: Jonas Janek, Monica Mason, Charlene Walker

Others Present: Hugh Halter, Louis and Alexandra Mattea, Deanna Barnes, Deputy Director of Building & Zoning, Becky Brunaugh, Secretary

The meeting of the Alton Historic Commission was called to order by Chairman Doug Bader at 7:18 p.m. on December 19, 2017.

Chase Green made a motion to accept the minutes for November 20, 2017 as presented. Diane Plummer seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Applications:

Louis and Alexandra Mattea presented the application for 1700 Central Ave. They are proposing a black chain-link fence, 4’ high, along the rear side and part of the back of the property. There is ample foliage to cover the appearance of the fence from all streets.

Mary Anderson made a motion to accept the application as presented. Chase Green seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Hugh Halter presented the application for 300 Alby St. He is proposing a 7’ sign, stainless steel with brass and copper accents, reading “The Post Commons”. The sign will be placed on the corner of the building at Third and Alby streets, approximately 2/3 up the side.

Mary Anderson made a motion to accept the application as presented. Diane Plummer seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business:

The Commission agreed to cancel the January 2, 2018 meeting.

There being no further discussion or comment from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
