Alton Appearance Review Commission met November 8.

Members Present: Margaret Hopkins, Barb Gearing, Gen Gearing
Members Not Present: Mike Doucleff, Debbie Schuneman
Others Present: Paul Ellis, Ed Benz, Sam Shaw, Building Inspector and Becky Brunaugh, Secretary
A meeting of the Appearance Review Commission was held on Wednesday, November 08, 2017. Margaret Hopkins called the meeting to order at 8:16 a.m.
New Business:
Paul Ellis with The Brass Horse presented the application for 401 E. Broadway. He is going to install a new sign in the existing wood frame. The frame will be cleaned, caulked and painted black. The sign will be aluminum coded with painted lettering reading “The Brass Horse”.
Barb Gearing moved to accept the application as presented. Gen Gearing seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Ed Benz with Frontier Furnishings presented the application for 101 W. Third St. He is going to remove the three awnings along the side of the building and replace the awnings at the front and rear entrances. He will be using a green-striped and solid brown material for the new awnings.
Barb Gearing moved to accept the application as presented. Gen Gearing seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Other Business:
The commission expressed concern over the two vacancies. An e-mail will be sent to the mayor’s office inquiring about the status of replacements.
There being no further discussion or comments from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35.
