Sen. Wm. Sam McCann (R-Plainview) stood on the Senate floor March 14 and introduced fellow senators to his special guests from the 50th District.
“I would like to introduce today some constituents and their family members from South Jacksonville, Illinois, a little west of here,” McCann said while pointing to the upper chamber in the Senate gallery.
“I would like to introduce to you Mr. Les Wilson," McCann said. "He has with him here today his daughter, Deanne Room; his granddaughter, Christine Huff; and Christine’s husband, Colby Huff, who was actually on the Democrat Senate staff."

McCann used his point of personal privilege to announce Wilson’s special day.
“On April 11, Les will be celebrating his 90th birthday,” McCann said. “Les was stationed in Korea from 1950-1952 during the Korean War; so when you read those stories about the greatest generation, here you have an opportunity to meet one of them.”
McCann encouraged both sides of the aisle to give his guests a round of applause.
“So join me in welcoming Les and his guests to the Senate today,” McCann said.
