Analysis: Alton pays $10.46 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Alton Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 90.8 percent of the $3,269,974 the Alton Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $10.46 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Alton contributed $2,970,632 to the fund, which saw a $703,744 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $283,978, or 8.7 percent, in 2016. Another $15,364 came from other unspecified sources.
