Analysis: Belleville pays $4.01 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Belleville Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 80 percent of the $2,983,995 the Belleville Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.01 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Belleville contributed $2,388,327 to the fund, which saw a $253,188 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $595,180, or 19.9 percent, in 2016. Another $488 came from other unspecified sources.
