Analysis: East Alton pays $2.87 for every $1 pensioners contribute to East Alton Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 74.2 percent of the $245,196 the East Alton Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $2.87 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, East Alton contributed $181,988 to the fund, which saw a $14,001 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $63,207, or 25.8 percent, in 2016. Another $1 came from other unspecified sources.
