City of Alton Civil Service Commission met March 21.

A regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 8:15am on March 21, 2018, at Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.
Members Present: Terry Bristow, Vicki Searles-Williams
Members Absent: Jonas Janek
Staff Present: Civil Service Attorney Patrick King
Guests Present: Lt Gary Cranmer and Eric Owens
A motion was made by Ms. Williams and seconded by Mr. Bristow to approve the minutes of the regular meetings on March 7, 2018. Motion passed.
An email from Police Officer Lateral Entry candidate Christine Olson was discussed. Mr. Bristow made a motion to vote that no action be taken regarding Ms. Olson’s request to reconsider her denial letter from the Commission that was sent on March 17, 2018. Ms. Williams seconded. All in favor. No opposed. The denial will stand and no action will be taken to respond to her request.
One letter of discipline from the Police Department was discussed.
Lt Cranmer discussed with the Commission the position of Jailer.
Mr. Owens discussed with the Commission the position of Building Supervisor.
Two interviews were held for the Jailer position.
Two interviews were held for the Building Maintenance position.
With no further business, Mr. Bristow made a motion, seconded by Ms. Williams to adjourn at 10:00 am.
Motion passed.
