Report: Marissa spent $9,960 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Marissa Community Unit School District 40 is up 3 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the St. Clair County school district spent $9,676 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,960 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 619 to 601.

Marissa's spending in 2016-17 was 23 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
