Report: Bethalto spent $9,408 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Bethalto Community Unit School District 8 is down 2 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $9,608 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,408 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2602 to 2509.

Bethalto's spending in 2016-17 was 27 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
