Report: Edwardsville spent $9,190 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Edwardsville Community Unit School District 7 is down 3 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $9,466 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,190 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 7630 to 7580.

Edwardsville's spending in 2016-17 was 29 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
