Report: Smithton spent $8,506 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Smithton Community Consolidated School District 130 is up 23 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the St. Clair County school district spent $6,903 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,506 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 508 to 523.

Smithton's spending in 2016-17 was 34 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
