Test expectations: How many students met or exceeded Math IAR expectations in Highland Community Unit School District 5 in 2022-23 school year?

In the 2022-23 school year, 34.8% of the students in Highland Community Unit School District 5 passed the Math portion of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of the 1,184 students in Highland Community Unit School District 5 who took the Math portion of the test, approximately 412 (34.8%) passed.

The percentage of Highland Community Unit School District 5 students who met or exceeded expectations on the IAR decreased by 4% compared to the previous school year.

Highland Community Unit School District 5 roughly covers six schools within Madison County and has a main office in Highland.

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) assesses the progress of students in grades 3-8 in meeting the Illinois Learning Standards in English language arts and mathematics.

According to the 2024 Illinois Report Card, math proficiency among Illinois students in grades 3-8 remains below pre-pandemic levels, while reading performance has recovered. Meanwhile, 11th graders have experienced significant declines in both subjects, falling below pre-pandemic benchmarks.
