Alton Historical Commission met May 1.

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

Members Present: Doug Bader, Mary Anderson, Chase Green, Diane Plummer,


Charlene Walker

Members Not Present: Jonas Janek, Monica Mason

Others Present: Isaac Benrubi, Larry Booher, Gregg Hoggatt, Deanna Barnes, Deputy

Directory Building & Zoning, Sam Shaw, Building Inspector, Becky Brunaugh, Secretary

The meeting of the Alton Historic Commission was called to order by Chairman Doug Bader at

8:01 a.m. on May 1, 2018.

The minutes from the April 17, 2018 meeting were amended to reflect the accurate vote on 411

E. 5th Street. Mary Anderson made a motion to approve the minutes as amended. Chase Green

seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Applications:

Isaac Benrubi presented the application for 509 Beacon St. He is proposing a black aluminum

fence to replace the wood fence around the front side of the residence. The fence is 4’ and will

have a double gate.

Diane Plummer made a motion to approve the application as presented. Chase Green seconded

the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Larry Booher and Gregg Hoggatt with Hoggatt &Son Construction presented the application for

617 Liberty St. Mr. Booher is proposing a 24’ x 24’ block garage with two gabled ends, two

garage doors in the rear, a man door on the side coming off a breezeway, and three windows.

Mary Anderson made a motion to approve the application as presented. Chase Green seconded

the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Monica Campbell was not in attendance to present the application for 918 State St., however,

the commissioners decided to take up her application. She is proposing wrapping her current

windows in aluminum. The windows are not being replaced.

Chase Green made a motion to accept the application. Diane Plummer seconded the motion.

Motion passed unanimously

Other Business:

The CLG report is due May 31, 2018.

Chairman Bader discussed the Landmarks Lectures hosted by Hayner Library and encouraged

other commissioners to attend if they are able.

There being no further discussion or comment from the public, the meeting was adjourned at

8:30 a.m.
