Godfrey Fire Protection District responded to 139 calls in 2017 - 9.7 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Godfrey included 72 fires - 29 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 33 other fires.

In all, the department saw $468,500 in fire loss - or about $6,507 per fire.

The department also received 67 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.

The Godfrey Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $2,761,288 in 2017.

The Godfrey Paid Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 18 active employees and 15 retired or inactive employees, was $457,036 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $9,141 for every fire in 2016.
