MEMORIAL HOSPITAL EAST: Memorial Foundation to Recognize High School Scholar Athletes

Memorial Hospital East issued the following announcement on Aug. 16.

Memorial Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with Memorial Rehab and Sports Medicine and BJC Medical Group (formerly known as Memorial Medical Group) Orthopedics and Sports Medicine has established a Scholar Athlete Program for the 2018-2019 school year.

A High School Senior may be nominated from a high school in Memorial’s primary service area and selected secondary service area including: Belleville Township High School East, Freeburg High School, Belleville Township High School West, Dupo High School, Cahokia High School, Columbia High School, East St. Louis High School, Waterloo High School, O’Fallon High School, O’Fallon First Baptist Academy, Gibault Catholic High School, Althoff Catholic High School, Marissa High School/Coulterville HS, Mascoutah High School, New Athens High School, Lebanon High School, Triad High School, Okawville High School, Nashville High School, Breese Central High School, Collinsville High School, Mater Dei Catholic High School, Governor French Academy and Wesclin High School.

Other criteria for nomination is a minimum 3.5 out of 4.0 GPA, history of academic and athletic accomplishments, and community and/or civic involvement.

Monthly awards will be given from September 2018 through April 2019. Each Scholar Athlete of the Month will be eligible for one of two $1,500 scholarships to be awarded at the respective school’s Sports Banquet.
