Memorial Hospital East issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.
Patients with non-life threatening medical conditions needing to visit the emergency room now have the ability to check into the Memorial Hospital East Emergency Department and wait from the comfort of their own home using the innovative InQuicker online waiting service.
Patients access this service using their computer or mobile device by going to www.memhospeast.com and clicking on the button for Emergency Department check-in. Patients will complete a pre-registration form, select their check-in time, and wait at home.
“In Quicker is intended for people with non-life-threatening medical conditions,” said Terri Halloran, RN, vice president of patient services. “It’s a simple way for people with busy lives and families to conveniently access care for minor medical needs.”
InQuicker is not an appointment or reservation service, as the nature of ER triage does not allow for the scheduling of medical treatments. This service is similar to “call ahead seating” at a restaurant and allows patients to wait comfortably in their own home, rather than the waiting room. InQuicker estimates treatment times based on facility conditions. In the event of projected treatment delay, InQuicker users are sent real-time notifications via phone call or email so they can continue waiting at home.
The InQuicker system is designed to filter certain symptom keywords that may indicate a life-threatening or debilitating medical condition, in addition to a review of a user’s symptoms by a healthcare professional at Memorial Hospital East. Those indicating such medical conditions are prompted to dial 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency department.
“Memorial Hospital East is pleased to offer this new service to our patients,” Halloran added. “It’s another way we can provide exceptional healthcare and compassionate service to the community.
