With the November general election just weeks away, 56th District state Senate candidate Hal Patton is calling for volunteers to help his campaign reach constituents.

“These next two months will be busy,” Patton said on Facebook. “In order to win this election, I am going to need your help with door knocking, phone calls and letters to your friends.”

Patton is running on the Downstate United ticket after a judge ruled his signature on a Democrat’s election petition disqualified him from running as a Republican. Patton, a family practice dentist and Edwardsville mayor, is running against Democrat Rachelle Aud Crowe.

A training session for volunteers will be held Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Patton’s campaign headquarters located at 222 First Ave. in Edwardsville.

Patton also publicized an opportunity for a paid internship for a campaign aide, asking his followers on Facebook to share the notice.

The 56th Senate District includes Alton, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Granite City, Madison, O’Fallon and Wood River.
