Retired Alton CUSD 11 employee Terri Harvey saved $108,498 toward her pension over 27 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 35 years of retirement, Harvey would collect as much as $2.776 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Metro East Sun.
Harvey, 60, who currently lives in Afton, earned $73,969 in her final year at Alton CUSD 11.
The projection assumes Harvey will receive 58.2 percent of that total - $43,023 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Harvey will have already received $132,979 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 20.5 percent of Alton CUSD 11 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams. ISBE reported that 55.3 percent of district's graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
