With less than a week left before voters go to the polls, Godfrey state Rep. Monica Bristow received another $653,658 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Oct. 18 and Oct. 26, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Monica Bristow, the campaign committee that supports Bristow’s race against Republican Michael Babcock in the 11th district.
The district covers all or part of Elsah, Godfrey, Alton, Bethalto, E. Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Edwardsville and Granite City.

Madigan’s contributions to Bristow came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $1.33 million to the candidate’s campaign this election cycle.
Madigan spent $6.5 million on 24 candidates between Oct 18 and Oct 30, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections. He has spent $15.84 million backing campaigns for 25 candidates this election cycle, thus far.
