Report: Venice spent $25,944 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Venice Community Unit School District 3 is up 39.8 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $18,561 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $25,944 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 105 to 66.

Venice's spending in 2017-18 was 94.5 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
