ST. ELIZABETH'S HOSPITAL: HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital recognizes I Promise award recipient

Award

St. Elizabeth's Hospital issued the following announcement on Feb. 12.

HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital recently recognized Rochelle Holmes, RN from Alton, IL as an “I Promise award” recipient. St. Elizabeth’s “I Promise” award recognizes both clinical and non-clinical hospital colleagues who have been nominated for demonstrating the hospital’s four Core Values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy.

For the month of January, Holmes, an HSHS Southern Illinois Division Float Pool nurse, was selected as the award recipient out of 75 nominations. In fact, she had been nominated on four separate occasions for her work on St. Elizabeth’s Telemetry B Unit. The nominations, which had a common theme, noted that she is:

  • “an impeccable nurse who is kind, caring and makes patients feel safe under her care.”
  • “is top notch and goes above and beyond in everything she does.”
  • “… all nursing staff were great, but Rochelle was exceptional!”
When asked about receiving the award, Holmes shared that she found her nursing profession later in life, but truly feels she has found her calling. She said, “I feel humbled to have been selected for this award. It may have taken me awhile to get here, but I am privileged to feel connections with patients on a regular basis and I love taking care of them.”

Holmes additionally credits the supportive nursing culture at St. Elizabeth’s with her success. “All of the teamwork, all the way up through senior leadership is phenomenal at St. Elizabeth’s. Everyone at St. Elizabeth’s’ genuinely wants you to take excellent care of our patients, and truly provides the support necessary in order to make this happen. Often, this support has allowed me to be able to provide important one-on-one care with my patients, spending extra time and giving the extra care that I have been recognized for.”

“We congratulate Rochelle and all other colleagues nominated who demonstrate St. Elizabeth’s Core Values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy in their work, and exemplify  their ‘promise’ to live by these core values in each interaction with our patients and visitors,” notes Amber Badolato, MHA, Manager of Patient Experience at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Additional “I Promise” award nominations continue to be accepted. Patients, family members, visitors and colleagues can recognize any HSHS St. Elizabeth’s colleague who has exceeded their expectations.

Nomination forms are located at nurses stations, the hospital lobby information desk and outpatient registration.
