Granite City home prices rise in the second half of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2017 in Granite City rose by $6,406 while total sales decreased by 22.3%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2017, there were 268 homes sold, with a median sale price of $61,170 - a 11.7% increase over the $54,764 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 345 homes sold in Granite City in the second half of 2016.

The median sales tax in Granite City for 2017 was $1,487. In 2016, the median sales tax was $1,515. This marks an decrease of 1.9%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.4%.
