Q4 2018 Recap: Parolees in East Saint Louis convicted of sex crimes

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in East Saint Louis during the fourth quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Metro East Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in East Saint Louis were men. The younger parolee was a 22-year-old man sentenced in 2018. The other was a 55-year-old man sentenced in 2009.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Christopher W. Korte. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2018 when he was 21 years old. He is now 22.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
