City of Granite City Council met June 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Ed Hagnauer called the City Council Meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

ATTENDANCE ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson, Koberna, Clerk Whitaker and Mayor Hagnauer were present.

MOTION By Williams, second by Eavenson to approve the City Council Minutes from May 21, 2019. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Jackstadt, second Koberna approve the request from Pastor Jeff Holtman, for the Annual Feast of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 23, 2019 and would like to encompass 2600 block of Washington Ave., and one block of Jerden, Kate and Sheridan Ave. under the supervision of the Police and Public Works. ALL VOTED YES, Motion Carried.

MOTION By McDowell, second by Davis to approve the request from Santa's Holiday Avenue for the Annual Santa's Holiday Avenue Parade November 23, 2019 and a request for street closure under the Supervision of the Police and Public Works. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Mathes, second by Elliott to approve the request from John Moad for the Granite City Cross Country Invitational on September 7, 2019 for Police direction from Fehling Road to State Street under the Supervision of the Police and Public Works. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Elliott, second by McDowell to approve the request from the Granite City Eagles for a charity event for R. Curt Walkenbach on June 15, 2019 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and block off 26th Street under the Supervision of the Police and Public Works. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Davis, second by Elliott to approve the request from Cheri Petrillo for street closure on June 29, 2019 for the street decorating on 2200 Cleveland under the supervision of the Police and Public Works. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By McDowell, second by Jackstadt to place on file the Agenda for the Plan Commission Meeting June 6, 2019. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

Motion by Pickerel, second by Koberna to give the Mayor and City Attorney the authority to relinquish the property known as Park Street to US Steel.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Pickerell, second by Eavenson to approve the inspection of street, sanitation, alley and traffic lights. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Mathes, second by McDowell to suspend the rule and place on final passage an Ordinance to authorize the purchase of an upgraded door security system for the Granite City Police Department.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES, Motion Carried.

FINAL PASSAGE: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Eavenson, second by Mathes to give the Attorneys Settlement Authority as discussed in Closed Session.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Eavenson, second by Koberna to place on file the Risk Management Committee Minutes for May 7, 2019 and the Closed Risk Management Committee Minutes for May 7, 2019 stay closed for six months. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Elliott, second by Jackstadt to suspend the rule and place on Final Passage an Ordinance approving Highway authority Agreement regarding 2100 Johnson Road, between the City of Granite City and Ronald Branding.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

FINAL PASSAGE: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Jackstadt, second by McDowell to suspend the rule and place on Final Passage

and amend this Ordinance to read an Ordinance to declare surplus and to lease a 2014 Ford C Max Motor Vehicle to the Granite City Park District.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

FINAL PASSAGE: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Jackstadt, second by Elliott to suspend the rule and place on Final Passage an

Ordinance to approve a contract for the lease-purchase of projection booth equipment for the Cinema and Cultural Arts Center of the City.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

FINAL PASSAGE: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION by Jackstadt, second by Elliott to approve the Payroll for the period ending May 30, 2019 in the amount of $719,675.87.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Jackstadt, second by McDowell to approve the Bill List for the Month of May 2019 in the amount of $1,782,688.22.

ROLL CALL: McDowell, Schmidtke, Jackstadt, Williams, Pickerell, Elliott, Mathes, Davis, Eavenson and Koberna. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Jackstadt, second by Mathes to place on file the Finance Committee Meeting Minutes for May 21, 2019. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.

MOTION By Schmidtke, second by Williams to adjourn the City Council Meeting at 7:19 p.m. ALL VOTED YES. Motion Carried.
