City of Alton Civil Service Commission met Aug. 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

A regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was called to order at 8:13am on August 21, 2019 at Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.

Members Present: Michael Drake, Vicki Searles-Williams, Terry Bristow

Members Absent: None

Staff Present: Civil Service Attorney Patrick King

Guests Present: Amy Cox

A motion was made by Mr. Drake and seconded by Ms. Williams to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on August 7, 2019. Motion passed.

Amy Cox requested the Commissioners consider opening Internal Applications to outside union employees before taking jobs to the public. The discussion was tabled for the next meeting.

Two requisitions for Firefighter were signed.

Requisition for Account Clerk III was signed.

Promotional Requisitions from the Police Department were signed; Joshua Boals to Lead Jailer, Lt Franke to Captain, Sgt McCray to Lieutenant, PFC Beaber to Sergeant and PFC Emily Hejna to Sergeant.

Firefighter McGaughey’s termination from Chief Sebold was discussed.

PFC Brenner’s Letter of Recommendation from the Police Department was discussed.

Mr. Bristow made a motion to vote to approve the background of Firefighter Applicant Rynerson, seconded by Mr. Drake.

Michael Drake: yes

Terry Bristow: yes

Arborist Park Maintenance Grade V job description was presented to the Commission, but tabled for further discussion.

One interview was held for the Firefighter position.

With no further business, Ms. Williams made a motion, seconded by Mr. Drake to adjourn at 8:55am. Motion passed.
