City of Alton Appearance Review Commission met July 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Debbie Schuneman, Mike Doucleff, Barb Gearing, Gen Gearing, Margaret Hopkins, Nick Moehn

MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: None

OTHERS PRESENT: Brian Campbell, Hiram Lewis, Sam Shaw – Building Inspector, Becky Brunaugh – Secretary

A meeting of the Appearance Review Commission was held on Wednesday, July 16, 2019. Chairwoman Debbie Schuneman called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m.

Nick Moehn made a motion to approve the minutes from July 2, 2019 as presented. Margaret Hopkins seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

APPLICATIONS:

Brian Campbell presented the application for 314 State St. The Firehouse is proposing a 3’10” wall, constructed of stone similar to the building, to enclose a 7’ x 14’ patio. The garage door will be replaced with a new garage door, metal frame painted red and glass, same size with allowance for springs

Mike Doucleff made a motion to approve the application as presented. Barb Gearing seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Hiram Lewis presented the application for 205 State St. He is proposing a 22’6” wide black awning with white lettering, reading “Hiram’s” and the street number.

Margaret Hopkins made a motion to approve the application as presented. Nick Moehn seconded the motion. Motion pass unanimously.

OTHER BUSINESS:

Big Boyz BBQ has changed their signage from what was presented. Sam will contact the owner to find out if the changes are permanent, take pictures, then the commission will vote via email on approval.

There are yellow bollards on Easton St. near the Marquette sign. Becky will find out if those are permanent or if they can be painted another color.

There being no further discussion or comment from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 8:44 a.m.
