Alton Community Unit School District 11 Board of Education met Oct. 31.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting was held at the Administrative Center, 550 Landmarks Blvd., Suite A, Alton, Illinois. President Fritz called the meeting to order at 7:33 a.m.

Board Members Present: David Fritz, Edmond Gray, David Lauschke, Barry Macias and Vivian Monckon Absent: David Goins and Rosetta Brown

Others Present: Mark Cappel, Superintendent; Wendy Adams, Director of Human Resources; Dave McClintock, Director of Building and Grounds; Elaine Kane, Curriculum Coordinator; Kristie Baumgartner, Assistant Superintendent; Mary Schell, Director of Finance; Sara Carter-Witt; AEA Representative and Kara Twichell, Secretary to the Board of Education

Media present: None

III. READING OF COMMUNICATIONS AND PETITIONS 

None

IV. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

It was moved by Ms. Monckton, seconded by Mr. Lauschke and carried unanimously that the Board of Education approve the agenda with the change of: Approve Assistant Basketball Coaches to Personnel Report.

V. CITIZENS’ AGENDA

None

VI. BOARD ACTION ITEMS

A. Motion: Approval of Personnel Report

It was moved by Ms. Monckton, seconded by Mr. Lauschke and carried unanimously that the Board of Education Approve the Personnel Report as follows:

That the Board of Education would accept the resignation through retirement with the retirement incentive of the following education support personnel effective as indicated:

Cathy Stolze – October 20, 2020

That the Board of Education would accept the resignation of the following educational support personnel effective as indicated:

Romeral Curtis – October 18, 2019

Treva Swain – October 31, 2019

Presley Zyung – October 17, 2019

That the Board of Education would offer employment to the following educational support personnel effective as indicated:

Patricia Brown – October 15, 2019 Tashina Nevin – November 18, 2019

That the Board of Education would accept the resignation of the following certificated personnel effective as indicated:

Kimberly Shepherd – November 26, 2019

That the Board of Education would accept the resignation of the following personnel in an extra duty assignment effective as indicated:

Jacob Petri - Alton High School – Assistant Wrestling Coach – October 16, 2019

That the Board of Education would approve the appointment of the following personnel in an extra duty assignment effective for the 2019-2020 school year:

Byron Harris – Alton High School – Assistant Girls Basketball Coach 

Jaida Moore – Alton High School – Assistant Girls Basketball Coach 

Mark Whitaker – Alton High School – Assistant Wrestling Coach

That the Board of Education would approve the employment of the following personnel as Substitute Staff effective for the 2019-2020 school year:

B. Review of Upcoming Projects

-Mr. Cappel presented a list of items for attention in the future.

-A backdoor referendum was discussed. We will need or organize public discussion regarding our needs.

-We have some serious safety hazards at AMS.

-Chiller overhauls are on our Capital Projects list in the future.

-Mary will work on getting together the particulars on the financial end of these topic.

-Some estimates have been gathered already.

-We will need to hire a construction manager to protect our investment.

-Turf, track and fields were discussed in depth.

-Roofs and parking lots are almost done, which is great. Act on Energy is still helping us with updates to some of our equipment.

Mr. Fritz, Board President, adjourned the meeting at 8:40 a.m.
