City of Madison City Council met Nov. 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Hamm at 6:00 p.m, followed by a request for roll call. Present were Aldermen Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Crochrell, Riskovsky, Haynes and Gardner. Absent: None.

All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

It was moved by Alderman Haynes, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky, to approve the minutes of the regular Council meeting held on October 29, 2019. Voice vote as follows: eight (8) ayes; no nays. Absent: None. Motion carried as corrected.

It was moved by Alderman Vrabec, seconded by Alderman Bridick, to approve the presentation of the Comptroller's Report as submitted and that bills be allowed as drawn on the treasury and presented to the Council, unless there are any questions of the Summary of Expenses for the period of October 29, 2019 through November 12, 2019 in the amount of $157,560.10. The Comptroller's Report was accepted as presented with corrections to be placed on file. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Crochrell, Riskovsky, Haynes and Gardner. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

There were no appointments by Mayor or members of the public wanting to address the Council.

Police Chief Gailius provided the Council with his September 2019 State of the Police Department.

It was moved by Alderman Vrabec, seconded by Alderman Hampsey, to approve the appointment of Officer James Witcher to full-time patrol officer. Voice vote as follows: eight (8) ayes; no nays. Absent: None. Motion carried as corrected.

It was moved by Alderman Hampsey, seconded by Alderman Haynes, to approve the intent to retire from Sgt. Leonard Ritz, effective July 3, 2020. It was noted that Sgt. Ritz had been with the force for 32 years and that his years of service were greatly appreciated. Voice vote as follows: eight (8) ayes; no nays. Absent: None. Motion carried as corrected.

Building Inspector Broadway reported that a new modular house would be delivered on November 13, 2019 as a part of the new housing development project.

There being no other reports of the department officers, it was moved by Alderman Haynes, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky to accept the reports of the department officers as presented. Voice vote as follows: eight (8) ayes; no nays. Absent: None. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Vrabec, seconded by Alderperson Jenkins, to open and approve the winning bid for 1707 4th Street. Voice vote as follows: eight (8) ayes; no nays. Absent: None. Motion carried as corrected.

It was moved by Alderman Hampsey, seconded by Alderperson Jenkins, to award the winning bid for the property located at 1707 4th Street to Dee Miller for $1,500.00. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Crochrell, Riskovsky, Haynes and Gardner. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Bridick, seconded by Alderman Hampsey, to approve the request to pay Police Commissioners 2020 Membership Fee to the Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners association. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Crochrell, Riskovsky, Haynes and Gardner. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Hampsey, seconded by Alderman Vrabec, to approve a motion to allow Juneau to replat property lines at 1707 4th Street. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Crochrell, Riskovsky, Haynes and Gardner. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

There was no old business or Attorney presentation of petitions, resolutions and ordinances, and no Attorney report.

It was moved by Alderman Vrabec, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky, to accept and place on file the thank you letter to the City of Madison from the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church for providing dumpsters for the cleanup work at the Church and Rectory. Voice vote as follows: eight (8) ayes; no nays. Absent: None. Motion carried as corrected.

It was moved by Alderman Vrabec, seconded by Alderman Hampsey, to concur with the Mayor to take houses off the auction block for purchase by the City of Madison prior to the tax sale for future development in the City. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Crochrell, Riskovsky, Haynes and Gardner. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

There being no executive session or other business to come before the Council, it was moved by Alderman Crochrell, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky, to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Voice vote as follows: eight (8) ayes; no nays. Absent: None. Motion carried.
