City of Collinsville Cool Cities Committee met Nov. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Malench called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. The following members were present and answering roll call: Malench, Marconi, Glotfelty, and Young. Brennan was absent. 

Also Present: Assistant City Manager & Community Development Department Director Derek Jackson.

SPEAKERS FROM THE FLOOR: NONE

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 

Glotfelty made a motion to approve the October 21, 2019 meeting minute with a correction to attendance and the date of the Items for next meeting agenda. Seconded by Marconi. Voice vote: All Ayes. Motion approved (4-0)

DISCUSSION 

5.1 Collinsville Sustainability Plan 

Jackson presented an update to the Sustainability Plan. Jackson stated the plan incorporates in comments provided from the October 21st, 2019 and has been moved into InDesign for formatting. Jackson stated that the overall formatting and graphics will be updated over time. The Committee reviewed the latest draft and provided additional edits. Jackson stated that he plans on sending the plan to the Planning Commission and Parks & Recreation Advisory Board for feedback. Jackson said after the other committees provide feedback he would like to setup an open house for the public to comment and provide input.

5.2 Committee Mission Statement 

The Committee did not discuss this item because Brennan is the project manager and was unable to attend the October 21, 2019 meeting.

NEW BUSINESS – NONE

OLD BUSINESS 

7.1 2019 Festival of Trees The Committee agreed to forgo submitting a tree or wreath for the 2019 Festival of Trees and will consider participating in 2020.

STAFF REPORT 

8.1 Invasive Species Sweep – Jackson provided a PowerPoint of photographs captured during the November 16, 2019 invasive species sweep. Young presented a proposal for how the Committee can handle future events at City facilities and private property.

COMMENTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS 

Malnech shared that she wrote a front-page article for the Troy Times Tribune spotlighting the event with Glotfelty.

ITEMS FOR December 19th MEETING AGENDA 

Jackson stated that he plans on having feedback from the Planning Commission and Parks & Recreation Advisory Board on the Sustainability Plan and the mission statement for the next meeting.

Motion to adjourn made by Young, seconded by Glotfelty. Voice Vote: All Ayes. Motion Approved (4-0)
