City of Collinsville issued the following announcement on March 13.
Residents and Businesses of Collinsville,
With daily news of additional cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (abbreviated “COVID-19”) around the country and the world, it is appropriate to consider effects we may face here in Collinsville. City staff is working closely with the Madison and St. Clair County Health Departments, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and public safety officials to ensure we have the latest information. At the time of this post, there have been 32 reported cases within the State of Illinois, all of which are located in the northern portion of the state.
This afternoon, City staff participated in a conference call with Governor Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Illinois Department of Emergency Management. The resounding message from the state was to reduce social contact. All events greater than 1,000 people should be canceled or postponed, and all community events with 250 people or more should be canceled or postponed.
Following the advice of the state officials, the City will be canceling or postponing certain events and meetings to ensure the safety of our residents and employees. Please refer to the City’s calendar on our website at https://www.collinsvilleil.org/ for information regarding cancelations. The March 24, 2020 City Council meeting will not be canceled unless otherwise notified.
Additionally, there will be no disruptions to City services at this point in time. If the City is required to make modifications to operations as a result of a state or federal guideline or mandate, information regarding services will be made available as soon as possible. Please note, however, that police, fire, water, and wastewater services will continue to operate.
If you have questions about COVID-19, please call 1-800-889-3931 or email dph.sick@illinois.gov.
