There were two offenders convicted of financial crimes or fraud released on parole near Illinois zip code 62002 during the third quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Metro East Sun.

The data shows that a man and woman were released in 62002. The younger parolee was a 36-year-old woman sentenced in 2018. The other was a 54-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Fred A. Skelton Jr. He was convicted of a financial crime or fraud in 2019 when he was 53 years old. He is now 54.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
