Webp park 11

City of Highland issued the following announcement on June 15.

The City of Highland Parks and Recreation personnel has been monitoring Governor Pritzker’s 5-Phase COVID-19 plan regarding the opportunity to reopen portions of our service areas. Late Friday, June 5th, we received word that pools would be allowed to open in Phase-3 with very strict guidelines and at which time, it was decided to open the Indoor and Outdoor Pools starting Friday, June 12 for the Indoor Pool and Monday, June 15 for the Outdoor Pool.

As with each of the reopening phases comes specific guidelines. Therefore, for the next two weeks, we will continue to abide by the rules for each of the pools found here; http://dph.illinois.gov/covid19/community-guidance/swimming-facility-guidelines

Korte Recreation Center – Indoor Pool will open for limited use for lap swimming, water walking, water therapy and water-aerobics classes, limited to 10/class.

Outdoor Pool will be limited to swim team practices and lap swimming only. Lap swimming will be limited to forty-five minute sessions between the hours of 1:00PM – 3:00PM and reservations must be made.

As we anticipate being able to expand the number of visitors to 50 in Phase-4, which is scheduled to start on Saturday, June 27, we will add swim lessons and general swim with reservations again being required.

Season passes will be able to be purchased, but season pass holders must also make reservations with no guarantee that space will always be available. We also have intentions of keeping the Outdoor Pool open until Sunday, August 30.

To make reservations, please call 651.1386. Season passes can be purchased at the Korte Recreation Center and periodically at the Outdoor Pool on dates and times to be determined. Details for on-line reservations and season pass purchases will be announced soon.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we all work together through these unprecedented times and we thank you for your continued support.
