Analysis: Granite City pays $29.81 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Granite City Firefighters Pension Fund C/O Gail Va

Taxpayers contributed 96.8 percent of the $11,266,892 the Granite City Firefighters Pension Fund C/O Gail Va brought in 2018, or $29.81 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Granite City contributed $10,901,273 to the fund, which saw a $9,573,936 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $365,619, or 3.2 percent, in 2018.
