Analysis: Alton pays $11.82 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Alton Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 92.2 percent of the $3,697,493 the Alton Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $11.82 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Alton contributed $3,409,169 to the fund, which saw a $425,827 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $288,324, or 7.8 percent, in 2018.
