Cost of college went up for all students at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville

Tuition and fees rose 5.6 percent for 2018-19 at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $12,132 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $12,132 more than the $0 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,532 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13.9 million and 988 students took out student loans totaling more than $5.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (13,281), 7,098 students used grants or scholarships totaling $53 million, and 6,086 students took out $40.2 million in federal student loans.
