East St Louis Fire District responded to 699 calls in 2018 - 20.6 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in East Louis included 415 fires - 154 structure fires, 84 vehicle fires and 177 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $2,984,640 in fire loss - or about $7,192 per fire.

The department also received 280 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 272 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury, three civilian non-fire injuries and two civilian fire-related deaths.
