City of Lebanon City Council met Aug. 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The council met in regular session in the council chambers with Mayor Wilken presiding.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Roll Call: Aldermen Fero, Jenkins, Johnson, Witty, Wright and Zurliene – present.

Alderman Gale - Absent

Aldermen Jenkins/Witty MOTIONED to approve the June 22, 2020 Council minutes

Roll Call: Aldermen Fero, Jenkins, Johnson, Mack, Witty, Wright and Zurliene – 7 Yeas

MOTIONED passed 7-0

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Streets/Alleys – MEET September 8, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

Finance – MEET September 21, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

Ordinance – MEET September 8, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

Water/Sewer – MEET September 21, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

1. Superintendent Zimmerman requested that alderman review the roof bids for the September 21st Committee meeting and present a recommendation at the next council.

Cemetery – MEET September 8, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

Health/Safety – MEET September 21, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

1. COVID-19 numbers are: 62254: Tested 1477

Public Property – MEET September 8, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

Personnel – MEET September 21, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

1. Committee RECOMMENDED the approval to hire Robert Temple as the custodian for the City Hall and Police Dept. with the stipulation that he passes both the background check and the drug test.

Roll Call: Aldermen Fero, Jenkins, Johnson, Mack, Witty, Wright and Zurliene – 7 Y

RECOMMENDATION passed 7-0

Clerk –

1. Website now includes for each Council Meeting the Agenda, Minutes and the Video for public viewing. The same will be available to the Committees, Commissions and Boards for their use.

2. The City Hall will present information concerning the usage of a credit card company

Treasurer –

1. The treasurer will be picking up three checks from the Trenton Bank and will purchase 3 CD’s in Account name of: Water, Sewer and Meter. The rate of the CD’s will be at 1.15%

Mayor –

Dept. Heads –

Chief –Camera system has been beneficial already and the Chief plans on expanding into other areas of the city

Streets/Alleys – The tree removal should start the week of Sep 21 and then the sidewalk removal/replacement should begin

Water/Sewer – no report

Building/Code Enforcement – no report

Accountant – no report

Audience –

Linda Riebold asked if there were any specific plans if the State reverses our standing concerning COVID-19. Mayor advised that we will take that on an as come basis. The City requests that the businesses/merchants conference as to what “they” see as beneficial and report recommendations to the city.

Unfinished Business –

1. No update on the Phase 2 or 3 for McKendree Park/Merrill Dr

2. Update on census 2020 is that the cutoff date is Sep 31st and all doorknockers will be at addresses that have not responded to surveys, flyers, pamphlets, letters and calls.

3. Christmas light removal will start the week of Sep 31st .

4. The Hwy 4/50 light intersection project paperwork has been submitted and is moving forward.

5. The replacement of the ambulance entrance door has been completed.

New Business –

1. Alderman Witty inquired as to who and when the city limit sign will be moved to our new city limits on West Hwy 50. Street Superintendent stated it was IDOT responsibility. The mayor said he would request it when he contacts them concerning other business.

Adjournment –

With no further business to be conducted, Aldermen Witty/Wright moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:38 p.m. p.m. Roll Call: Aldermen Fero, Jenkins, Johnson, Mack, Witty, Wright and Zurliene – yeas.
